Claire has a B.A. (Hons.) in Industrial Ceramics and subsequently ran a ceramics studio selling work to galleries around the U.K.  She worked as a freelance sculptor for a major stone ornament company exporting her work globally, supplying major high street stores.  Claire also ran pottery and Art departments in an NHS hospital and within several local authority day centres.  She now runs Art courses, teaching in the West Midlands.

Claire’s painting style has evolved over the years. Her passion for watercolour has been enhanced with the use of pen, wash and wax.  She “Fell in love with water colours, I then added the use of soluble pen which gave a lovely indistinct blur when washed over, this became more exciting and complicated when I added the zing of wax crayon… The contrast between the murky inkiness and the power of the bright wax really conveyed well the feeling of what I wanted… I paint, quite simply because I love it! I love transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary”.  The distinctly sculptural style is a legacy from Claire’s ceramics background which enhances her elegant ink, wash and wax paintings.
